Hoopers' Yak Ranch

Yak is a tasty and very healthy meat, leaner than bison or skinless chicken breast. The Hoopers, whose 86-acre farm is north of St. Joe, currently have the largest yak herd in the eastern half of North America. They practice rotational grazing and use no hormones or antibiotics in the feed. Their yaks are on pasture at least 6 months out of the year and are not corn-fed. In addition to frozen yak meat, John also sells yak fiber, yak skulls, felted yak products, and even composted yak dung.
